Noosa to Roth

After many years of training through some solid South Island winters I have been lucky enough to find my way to Noosa with my family this year. It sure has been special. Picture riding your bike or swimming in a 50m outdoor pool in 25 degrees and sunshine. Then recovering at the beach for a dip with the kids. Winter in Noosa has just been unbelievable.

It is now less than two weeks until Challenge Roth. This is by far the biggest event I will have experienced in my life to date. Never before have I raced in front of 250,000 screaming supporters or competed in such a strong and deep pro field. I cannot wait to give it a crack.
This month I was thrilled to welcome my official title sponsor Landmark Homes Central Otago on board. It is exciting to link up with a company so passionate about quality. My focus as an endurance athlete has always been on doing things to the highest level I can at all times. I can now proudly represent a company that shares the same ethos when it comes to building homes. To me it feels so right and I can already sense some added purpose behind my day to day training and race preparations.

Also hugely exciting has been my decision to move to Profile Design  for all my aerodynamic, hydration and bike accessory needs. I have already been using their base bar/extensions on my TT bike and they are the best I have ever experienced. No doubt I can find some extra speed now using their wheel sets and other cleverly designed products.

So I fly to Roth from Brisbane on Friday and arrive with a week to put the final touches on my race prep. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing from a training perspective, but it rarely ever is. When you are searching for your outer limits you often hit speed bumps. As race day approaches I feel I am coming into the sort of form that will give me every chance of racing to my limits on July 9th. Look forward to keeping you posted through my social media channels in the final build and on race day thanks to my brother in law Andrew who will be a roaming reporter! So if you haven’t already, jump onto my instagram here and give my facebook page a like here. Live coverage coming your way!

The July issue of the DA Endurance Editorial is the Off-road issue. I am excited to announce our special guest will be 3x Coast to Coast champion and multiple Xterra and Red Bull Defiance champion Braden Currie. It is fair to say he knows a few things about racing off-road. We will also feature one of my favourite races the The Coast to Coast Multisport Race, New Zealand and get some thoughts from 6x winner and now Race Director Richard Ussher. So if this event means anything to you, I expect you will be as excited as me by the next issue. Lots of other content of course and I look forward to dropping into your inbox again in a month’s time!
